| « Japan 2008 | Suzumiya Haruhi 1/8 scale figure photo shoot » |
Saw this Japanese school movie about a group of 4 girls who form a band and practice some songs for their schools cultural festival and the girls need to overcome problems like the time limit and personal problems. It's a fun movie to watch and I like the main song very much which is a cover of the famous Japanese punk band The Blue Hearts. Some elements of this movie were used in "Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu" in the episode (12) that had the legendary performance of ENOZ with God Knows and Lost My Music.
Watch a clip here of their performance of Linda Linda at the end of the movie: YouTube.

Synopsis of the movie:
A girl band is practicing songs for the school festival, but the main guitar player breaks a finger during sports class and can't play, this causes a fight with another girl from the band and they don't want to do it any more. The other two member want to continue with the but need 2 more, so they get a new bass player, but still no vocals. In a moment they ask a korean exchange student to join the band for vocals, but she can hardly understand or speak Japanese! They choose to do some cover songs of the Japanese punk band The Blue Hearts.
So they start practicing together, spending time together, sneaking into school at night to practice. Talking with each other about daily life, boy friends, etc. At the end they barely manage to get there in time because of all the late night practicing they fell asleep. But in the end everything fell into place, the heavy rain caused everyone at the festival to get into the gym where they are gonna play so there are a lot of people, and they have a great time.
Not many well known actors, apart from one of the girls who also plays a role in the first Death Note movie as Light's girl friend, Shiori Kashino.
But definitely a good and warm movie to watch. I give it 7.5/10.
